Most laser engraving projects can be enhanced greatly by simple and effective finishing techniques. Today we are exploring one such technique – acrylic spray colouring. Please download the free vector artwork and follow along.
The substrate used in this project is a clear Perpex cast acrylic sheet. Perspex is a brand of Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), other popular brands include Crylux, Plexiglas, Acrylite, Astariglas, Lucite, or Perclax and is classified as a thermoplastic, or thermosoftening plastic. Basically a fancy word that means it is a plastic polymer material that becomes pliable at elevated temperatures.
A great tip from Riley in this video is to leave on the protective coating layers on the Perspex while laser engraving and cutting – this will avoid the little cracks in the cut edges.
Please download and enjoy our artwork and follow along for more tips and tricks as Riley takes us thorough this project. We are excited to see how you use it in your own creations.
